Hello again, anon that asked for the Samael sfw ABC's. That was great, really loved it. Thought you hit the nail on the head. I don't know if you have head cannons for him with an s/o but if you do, what are they? How would he attempt to win the s/o over if they came with and relied on the Horsemen? I was just curious, your ABC's was so good it got me thinking.

when Samael wants something, he's going to get it regardless of the cost. whether he needs to court you with honeyed words or beautiful gifts he's going to lay down his best cards to win you over.

only later in the relationship does he realise he likes your personality, your eyes, your laugh and...when did your smile get so dazzling dammit?

and the thing is, like I said before, he will do anything to get what he wants - you smiling included.

your laugh, ringing as clear as bells along his castle's walls, wrings his nonexistent heart. he may be eternally naturally warm, but something about the way you actually tend to care about listening to him makes his chest bubble with warmth.

that's another thing - he does love when you talk, but he also loves it when you listen. everyday he has to give orders and speak to countless of his soldiers or allies or even enemies, although you are the only one he ever wants to speak to.

he could talk for hours about everything you're not necessarily supposed to know about and watch as your eyes light up as you actually take in what he has to say. that same damned fuzzy feeling is back.

similarly, he doesn't mind when you ramble on and on right next to his ear while sit on his shoulder. he could be trying to pour himself into his work and you'd be right there, speaking your mind.

he'll make noncommittal grunts or single-word comments along the lines of whatever you're talking about. When you quiet down he'll gladly nudge you with one of the horns protruding from the side of his face, encouraging you to continue.

he is bold and brash, so expects you to be the same :)

samael also loves it when you have to literally climb him like a jungle gym. it amuses him when you struggle to wiggle your way up his arm or around his head when you want to get somewhere.

he'll even purposely make it difficult for you by moving his arm over when you're trying to get a grip or shake his head a little too violently while you hang on for dear life.

although if you ever manage to fall off he'll catch you without a second thought, and scold you without one too.

if you found your way to samael while in the company of the horsemen, samael would be even more intrigued.

a human? with the horsemen? in his realm? and you haven't been eaten by a demon yet?? he's impressed.

he's incredibly curious and will interrogate the horsemen about why you're with them. when he learns from either them or you that you're one of the last living humans - his interest is piqued even more.

you are rare, and that makes you valuable. he has little want to kill you, but he would love to keep you around purely for the fact that you're one of the only humans that he's been interested in.

scared humans bore him, but you - you were confident in your protection and didn't seem to care that he was a demon king. how foolish.

if the horsemen need something from him, he'd probably trade it for conversations with you.

and that is largely how your relationship began! he would have you walk with him across his kingdom (with the horsemen nearby) and enquire about your life or humans in general.

he's naturally curious and wants to know all he can about a potential enemy or ally. that includes humans.

he doesn't feel remorseful when you tell him of how you came to be with the horsemen and how the apocalypse started - if his armies hadn't marched on earth, the angels would have taken over and likely stormed hell itself. and he couldn't have that.

when your voice cracks or the tears that threaten to spill cling to your lashes though, he remains quiet. if you start to resent him he's going to get nowhere.

from there your friendship grew and your time in his company multiplied.

Can we get more samael stuff I like interspecies couples

There will be, either when I have the inspiration or if someone asks (wink wink nudge nudge). For now, take some headcanons:

Sam is by no way a sugar daddy. He’ll show his concern, his flirting is subtle, but don’t expect to get showered in gifts or anything. I mean yeah gods help you if you fuck with his favourite human, it’s not like he doesn’t care, in fact he cares immensely. He’s not big on pda, but away from prying eyes he is very much affectionate and will insist on keeping you in his lap for company. 

Of course, he’s aware of his size, so I’ll take some artistic liberty and say he can make himself smaller to an extent, so if he wants to lie with you, he doesn’t have to worry about tearing you in half on his dick. A little bit of demonic magicks will help with the stretch, sure, and he likes to tease and praise you. He’s not Strife level talkative during the act, but he likes to talk to you, ask how it feels, maybe demand you tell him how good he feels inside you. Essentially, it’s to inflate his ego, even if he cherishes you so very much.

He rests alone on his stone carved throne, wineglass in hand and with the soothing sounds of bubbling hot lava flowing through his chambers – just how he likes it.

With no one left to disturb him, he can finally indulge in the way he’d been looking forward to throughout what counts as a day in his infernal realm. Now, he may finally take out the flat rectangle object gifted to him by one of his associates after they had so eagerly vied for his favour. The metal contraption was quite simple to use, modified as it was to recognise claws and talons across its sensitive glass screen and after as much time as he had to fiddle with its interface, he can access most of its features with relative ease, if he does say so himself.  

Objects like the one in his hand had become a rather sought-after commodities soon after the Third Kingdom had met the rest of Creation. Their technology was a point of fascination for most and so it was that those clever creatures capitalized on that fact, spreading their merchandise- as well as their influence- across numerous realms.

Their profiteering wasn’t blind to the dangers, however. Eager buyers soon found that what objects made available were technological platforms with access to various pieces of entertainment. This of course was stripped clean of any vital information on Humanity, their might, or their home realm. And with access to Earth still restricted by the Charred Council, Humans made sure to keep any compromising bits of knowledge well out of reach, as one might expect. This, however, did not negatively affect their sales in the slightest. In fact, what few entertainment programs were made available to the other realms quickly gained in popularity and even he found himself eagerly awaiting the release of new episodes of several his now favourite shows on a weekly basis.

Ah, but alas, not all shows had received the endings he had hoped for. An opinion shared by many, humans included, according to his social media feed. The long-awaited finale proved highly disappointing by ending on a tragic note and it is because of it that he was so impatient to have this moment to himself.

And so he finds himself frequenting the very internet site he knows will help alleviate his dismay. With a few clacks of his claws across the screen he sees it: the tags and the summary fit his search parameters.

He’s seen far too many stories where the hero dies at the end ...

and he much prefers those with a happy ending.

~Angels~

Abaddon (cause why not, eh?): Above all, the nest must be safe. In such an unsure and, well, unsafe world you must protect the most what you value the most. As such, his little hiding place for her is even more secure than Azrael's prison. Comfort will come with familiarity, but for now his primary concern is keeping his secret well guarded.

Azrael: Above all, the nest has to be comfortable, and what's more comfortable to a human than their own bedroom? She obviously can't stay in her own bedroom or how would he reach her if she needed him? No, no, she'll stay with him, but he'll be sure to bring her favorite blanket and maybe that pile of clothes she never got to for some ambiance.

Nathaniel: Above all, the nest must be practical. It has to be big enough for her to move around but not so large as to thwart the psychological effect of being hidden and safe. There must be more than enough food and blankets in case he meets his... untimely end before he sees his duty through.

Uriel: She... has no idea what she's doing. Having never had a child herself, she has very little experience or instinct to help back her up. But what she lacks in knowledge, she makes up for in determination and devotion.

~Demons~

Abraxis (also cause why not): A demon's peacocking doesn't end once a female is pregnant, and Abraxis is the cockiest of them all. He prides himself with his found treasure, making sure it's flaunted in the face of every demon that walks into his throne room. And just like any horded treasure, she is as gently tended as she is jealously guarded.

Samael: Samael is not as brash as Abraxis, feeling his title and cunning give him enough status to flaunt than anything in his possession. He doesn't know what deep paternal instinct drives him to protect this young woman and her unborn child, but as long as he continues to find the company pleasant enough he doesn't have a mind to go against it.

Vulgrim: Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Old Vulgrim knows a thing or two about surviving where he's not wanted, and a desperate girl may just be in need of his tricks. He'll share them... for a price. He might seem like the guy you can't leave around children or small animals, but deep down he's the same tender creature that raised 4 young nieces and nephews after his brother passed.

Do the Darksiders engage in one night stands? If so, does it ever happen that they “catch feelings”?

War: No. He never was a very romance-oriented person to begin with. His proudness and menacing demeanour make him a poor flirt. That said, does an occasional blowjob counts as a one night stand? Because he’s met more people willing to get on their knees for him - than those who would ask him on a proper date. You might change this. ;)

Strife: Yes and sometimes, yes. Do you need to ask? He’s the Charmer. For him, getting company for the night is as easy as breaking a smile at a bar. Our gunslinger is rather apt at separating emotion from carnal pleasure. From time to time he does get attached though. It never lasts long because of his Issues and general lack of maturity; even so, all his exes remember him rather fondly.

Fury: Yes and no. She’s always game for a romp with a cute stranger. She’s got zero inhibitions when it comes to having passionate sex and then leaving in the morning. Feelings are “messy” for her (read: they make one vulnerable) and she dislikes mess.

Death: Hell no. Hell no. He needs to protect his brittle self-esteem. You were the first person in a VERY long time that he actually went to bed with. Feelings came later - and no one was more flabbergasted than D himself when they did.

Azrael: Hoo boy. Yes he does - and no, he never catches them feelings. His lovers often do, but he turns them down as politely as possible.

Samael: Nope. He prefers to have a steady (and steamy) relationship. Wooing a different person every night is too much of an effort from his point of view.

At one point, War's Watcher says a line: "Who knows where in the Nine Hells this portal where take us," which implies that Hell in Darksiders is split up into 9 territories, or circles, like in Dante's Inferno. Any thoughts/ headcanons on this, such as which demon lords rule over what territory?

guess who had to do some googling about hell for this, 

okay! so! There are probably only a few demons that reign over entire circles of hell: lilith obviously takes the second circle, lucifer would have the ninth circle, samael would have seventh circle, and moloch would have had the fifth (before kicking the bucket, which i imagine let sammy take his circle over too).

the rest of the circles are ceaselessly warred over by the other demon lords. one might set up camp there and think that they’ve won it, only to be booted out a month later by another demon lord with a bigger army. Lucifer’s aid is obviously helpful in securing a circle, but it isn’t always foolproof. The first circle of hell in particular is often fought over, but no one has ever been able to definitively claim the whole thing. it’s too large and too hard to keep track of for one demon lord to stake a claim to it without another few slipping in to conquer their own pieces. 

At the end of darksiders 1, which still acts as the present for all the main line games, I believe Samael would have enough of his power restored to start conquering other circles left and right, which I like to think would put him at about four circles right now, especially with the destroyer out of the way and lucifer still not making any moves to come and confront the horsemen himself

Shipping and Darksiders

So, one of the lovely people over on the Darksiders Discord brought up shipping with Darksiders characters (specifically involving Crowfather, Death and Strife) and it kind of got me thinking—what romantic/sexual ships are there in Darksiders? In canon? In my headcanon? And that kind of sent me down a rabbit hole of “what even is angelic/demonic/nephilim sexuality”, so now here we are.

Potential spoilers for all Darksiders media to follow. Please also note that I am not trying to dictate what anyone should or should not ship. I am merely extrapolating and presenting my own personal head canons based on the lore of the games/comics/novel/board game.

First of all, in the corner of canonical ships we have:

Abaddon --> Astarte (romantic, sunk)

Abbadon <--(>) Uriel (romantic, sunk)

Lilith --> Lucifer (most likely not romantic but certainly sexual, still ongoing)

Lilith <--> Samael (most likely not romantic, but certainly sexual, probably sunk when Samael was imprisoned)

As for the horsemen, canonically, none of them are explicitly romantically/sexually interested in anyone. They are however very close to each other as brothers and sisters and considered all other nephilim their brothers and sisters, which begs the question: who the hell would nephilim even date?

First of all, we do know that angels and demons, despite being immortal, do procreate (as evidenced by War recognizing that Uriel was barely out of adolescence when he first met her) and that they do feel sexual desire--Lilith is stated to be temptation made flesh and we have numerous reports of members of different species (angels, demons, and makers, among others) being sexually attracted to her to the point of worship and madness.

Lilith’s case is an especially interesting one, since she is noted in the novel to have multiple simultaneous lovers, some of whom are male, female, both or neither, and not a single demon in hell seems to have a problem with that, so I’m going to go out on a limb here and say demons are pretty much a “all is fair in love and war” kind of race and simply don’t care very much about who sleeps with whom, beyond being utterly jealous of their own lovers’ lovers (with often deadly results).

As for the angels, we know that they have a strict social hierarchy based on military standing, which greatly emphasizes duty and purity over personal desires. It’s pretty much a military regime with puritan values. We know that punishments for falling in love with the wrong person can go up to including exile to hell, as was the case with Raciel for falling in love with Hadrimon. Notably, so far the only romantic relationships we have seen between angels were heterosexual ones, but I would not be surprised if angels can fall into other orientations (potentially repressed and illegal by angelic code) as well. We do know that angels have children and are not just formed from clay fully grown or something like that, but chances are that they procreate at a much slower rate than humans (what with being immortal and all).

Now, nephilim were made from angels and demons, so it would stand to reason that the basic conditions apply and nephilim can feel sexual and romantic attraction, as well as have children. As a matter of fact, when they need to visit Lilith, Death specifically orders War to stay behind because he is worried that War might fall for her. And in case anyone wonders, Lilith would absolutely try to seduce her own “children”—both times she deals with Death she very much tries to use some of her charm on him.

So if Lilith has no moral qualms with seducing her children, would the nephilim themselves not have a problem with being romantically and sexually involved with people they consider their own brothers and sisters? Eh... it’s possible? After all, Lilith was the one who created them and presumably shaped their moral compass. More importantly though, there may not have been many other choices, because:

none of the angels we’ve seen in the game have ever lost a good word about the nephilim and we know they hate demons and abhor desecration of their fallen worries, so it’s doubtful any of them would be willing to get into a relationship with someone who was made from the remains of fallen angels and demons,

the demons hate the angels just as much and even Samael, who can at least respect power when he sees it, considered the nephilim except for Absalom “flawed castings from a perfect mold”, so outside of people like Lilith who really are pansexual as it gets, chances are the demons would have rather have had their heads, and

most importantly, the nephilim’s entire shtick as a race seemed to have been slaughtering other races and turning their planets to dust. Not once have we ever heard about any of these races, or even of individuals of other races, being spared out of romantic/sexual potential. As a matter of fact, the only creature who seemed to have had friendly dealings with the nephilim before Eden was the Mad Smith, who forged Fury’s whip and later the Horsemen’s abyssal armors. Accounts of how long the nephilim rampage lasted vary (sometimes it’s eons, but other times it’s stated that there aren’t many other races outside of angels and demons to begin with—the timeline of Darksiders is a wibbly-wobbly ball of timey-wimey stuff).

So all things considered, my personal head canon is that nephilim could and did likely feel romantic and sexual attraction, either to each other or potentially to members of other races, but that it was of very little importance to them—considering the priority was “slaughter everyone and burn everything until we find a place that’s good enough for us to call home”. Which never happened, of course, since Absalom decided that “home” should be Eden, which was expressly reserved for a species crucial to the balance, and his decision ended up causing the annihilation of all but four nephilim. And as for those four:

Death never displays sexual attraction to anyone. As a matter of fact, he seems rather repulsed by Lilith and her advances. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a sense of aesthetics (he specifically notes Karn to be “less pleasing to the eyes” than the other makers), but one can absolutely find someone beautiful and still not be the least bit sexually attracted to them, so I firmly headcanon Death as asexual, potentially aromantic.

Fury, at least in the games—her appearances in the novel and the Forbidden Land boardgame are severely out of character—starts from a basis of indifference towards others in the best of circumstances, but she does not seem particularly bothered by Lust’s (non-binary, different species) suggestive dialogues and has zero qualms with being flirty (in a “look at this hotness, just before I gut you” kind of way) with Wrath (male, different species). I headcanon her as pansexual, but potentially aromantic.

Strife... is the one we know least about just yet, especially concerning his potential romantic/sexual orientation. He is a complete wildcard, whose greatest joy in life seems to be fighting and killing, so I’d say pansexual/panromantic, with the caveat that anyone entering in a romantic relationship with him would need nerves of adamantine and a veeeeeery low attachment requirement.

War... might have taken a shine to Uriel (female, angel)? His interactions with her can be interpreted as either strictly platonically or as containing romantic subtext, which Samael actually calls him out for, nothing that he thought the Horsemen were above such “earthly pursuits”. Hilariously, Uriel hates his guts for at least a hundred years and only starts warming up to him in the last 2 minutes of the first game, so if that’s not slow burn enemies-to-“friends”-to-“lovers”, I don’t know what is. I find the idea hilarious. War, imo, is heteroromantic/heterosexual.

TLDR: By sheer nature of their origin/physiology, nephilim had the potential to be pansexual and panromantic, but were apparently too much in love with fighting and killing to get involved with anyone. Personal head canon is that Death is asexual (and potentially aromantic), War is heterosexual/-romantic, and Fury and Strife are pansexual and either panromantic or aromantic.

Kinda a headcanon, since it never was adressed..BUT, what if Samael is actually Lucifer's son? Hence, right to inherit the demon throne?

Eehhhh, it’s complicated, I don’t know enough about Jewish religion to get into it but I think it goes that the myths of Samael came way before the term Lucifer was coined. Lucifer referring to the King of Babylon, not the devil himself. 

And don’t quote me on this, but as far as I’m aware, God created Samael to be his left hand, his weird hitman, if you like, who judges and mostly excuses the sins of man. 

So. If anything, in the Darksiders universe it might be more accurate to say that Samael is the Creator’s son.

This is coming off hot from that last Samael post from @imagine-darksiders (if you're interested, no pressure). Samael uses magic to shrink himself down to a reasonable size so he can fuck s/o. Finally gets to kiss them properly too. Breeding kink, knotting, size kink, biting, a little bit of blood (not a lot, not a fan of pain), oral (female receiving), body worship of s/o (he likes how soft, needy, and delicate they are), overstimulation, and of course some really pleasant aftercare. A few bits I scrapped from the ‘Samael Reads Fanfic’ fic

This means apps and programs that circumvent those censors get heavily bartered for (but no one ever gets them)

Both Demons and Angels have tried to kidnap a human and force them to give them uncensored access

This goes horribly wrong for them, because it results in heavy malware or just downright destroys their tablet/computor - Humans made contingency plans for situations like this.

I wanted to have a line or two in the fic that mentioned this and how Samael ‘isn’t foolish enough to attempt it’, but I scrapped it because it didn’t fit the flow and it would’ve made it too long

What a great question to kick the blog off! I did as many characters as I could think of!

Death

Death loves cuddling with his S/O and well take this secret to his grave. After a long and stressful week, He’ll just interrupt whatever his S/O is doing, pick them up, put them on the couch, and lay on top of them. His favorite cuddling position is on top of his S/O with his head on their chest, so he can hear their heartbeat. Run your fingers through his hair or scratch his back and he’ll be putty in your hands. He’s in heaven. (let one of his siblings catch him like this though and they’re going to be only 3 Nephilim left in the universe)

War

War loves sweets with a passion. If you make him a cake or a brownie your now his best friend and the main source of food. Make sure to stock your kitchen daily unless you want a grumpy horseman. His favorite type of cake is chocolate. It’s so rich and he never had anything like that back when the Nephilim were still around, so a slice of cake is a luxury for him.  Strife once called him childish for his love of sweets and War threw him through a wall.

Fury

Fury has and will continue to, sneak to earth for bath products. She loves face masks and bath bombs, they make her feel relaxed. If her S/O gives her a big basket of spa items she will marry you on the spot. But if you tell her how she can make her own bath bombs and help her you’re now a goddess/god in her eyes. There is a mandated spa day for her and her S/O every week.

Strife

Strife really likes poetry and will, and has, kill anyone that finds out. He’s romantic at heart and he’s also an eternal angsty teen so he’s partial to the gothic genre. He has meet Edgar Allen Poe and may or may not have been the inspiration of one of his poems. He will try to write a poem for his S/O to express his feelings for you but will never give it to them, he’s too embarrassed about it. If his S/O writes one for him he’s over the moon. It’ll be in a golden frame by the end of the day.

Azrael

Azrael is a pun master. He will make a pun whenever a chance is presented to him and is not ashamed. The spiral is always ringing with groans whenever Azrael is there. If you’re his S/O be prepared to be bombarded by bad jokes 24/7. It is going to get worse when you have children together.

Abaddon

Abaddon goes to the angelic version of schools to teach the younger generations. He loves children and loves to teach. Whenever the pressure of leading the Hellguard gets to be overwhelming Abaddon well pop on over to the school to surprise the children and entertain them with his tales of his battles. The teachers are annoyed with him. His S/O is going to go with at least once and the children will want you to tell them Earth’s fairytales.

Uriel

Uriel has a few pet Orthos that she loves to death. She will take in old and battle-scarred Orthos and spoil them rotten. Someone once jokingly called her the crazy griffin lady and it did not end well for them.  The Orthos will have to like her S/O or you can’t be together. If the Orthos like you immediately your now her wife/husband. That’s the rules.

Lilith

Lilith likes to send her minions/slaves to earth to get succulents and other plants for her. Hell is lacking in foliage and plants are just so beautiful she needs them all. She especially likes cactuses. They remind her of herself in a strange way, beautiful but she has her prickles. Her S/O better have a green thumb because she is hopeless at keeping them alive. If a plant dies, she’ll mope around for a week so please remember to water them.

Samuel

Samuel likes Human television. He especially loves trashy reality shows like the real housewives and the jersey shore. Its full of sin and drama how could he not love them! He also has a soft spot for cartoons. There just so amusing. He and his S/O will watch his favorite shows every night and if he is interrupted your dead.

Realm = Solar System headcanon

-based on this post where a lot of you folks from the community came together and talked with me about outer space in Darksiders.

Ok, I got to the chapter in Darksiders Genesis where one of the demons the horsemen are hunting is said to have gained his own realm in Hell. Now, I haven’t really found anything that could tell me what counts as a realm in Darksiders. Buuut even just going by the basic definition of realm meaning kingdom and Strife’s reaction to this demon (trying to avoid spoilers so I’m not using their name) getting something like that...

my opinion is that realms are solar systems where planets are their own smaller realms/domains that can be given to worthy individuals. Like Demon Lords in Hell having their own domains, which are still part of the realm of Hell. These smaller realms/domains can look very different from one another, i mean, just look at Samael’s realm ‘Shadow’s edge’ from D2 and compare it to any of the realms we see in Genesis - that game shows a snow and ice covered realm, a molten lava ream which I think may be typical for Hell, but we also see a swamp-like realm etc.

Space is then the emptiness between realms as some of the people on the liked post suggested.
